AutoCAD delete SOLID – remove SOLID elements in Model Space
This tool automatically cleans your drawing by deleting all SOLID entities located in Model Space.
It opens the DWG, identifies the SOLID objects, removes them and then saves the corrected file.
As a result, unwanted filled areas and opaque patches are removed in a single operation.
The goal is to get rid of unwanted SOLID fills (solid areas, opaque masks, hatch substitutes, etc.)
in bulk, without manual selection. You can combine this feature with other tools from our
AutoCAD plugins collection
to build a complete cleanup workflow. For more details about SOLID entities and visual fills,
you can refer to the
official Autodesk documentation
.
How to remove SOLID elements from Model Space
Opening the DWG
First, the software opens the DWG file you selected for processing.
There is no need for manual preparation: the cleaning is performed directly on the loaded file. The DWG is opened automatically for analysis. Detection of SOLID elements
Next, the software searches for all SOLID entities located in the DWG’s Model Space.
Only Model Space is scanned, so Paper Space layouts are not affected by this operation.Targeted scan: only SOLIDs in Model Space are detected. Automatic removal of SOLID entities
Then, all detected SOLID entities are automatically deleted.
This quickly removes unwanted filled areas, masking shapes, stains or opaque overlays that can make the drawing hard to read.Visual cleanup: unwanted SOLID elements are removed in one step. Saving the corrected DWG
Finally, the cleaned DWG (without SOLIDs in Model Space) is saved.
Once this drawing is processed, the tool can move on to the next DWG and repeat the same cleanup. The drawing is saved after automatic cleanup.
Benefits of deleting SOLID entities in bulk
By removing SOLID objects in bulk, you make the drawing lighter and easier to read.
It also reduces the risk of hidden areas masking important information.
This AutoCAD delete SOLID workflow saves time compared to manual selection
and helps keep your Model Space clean throughout the project.
