Purpose: Import attributes into the DWG from a selected Excel file
This import variant lets you reload into your DWG the attribute values (markers, designations, layers, etc.) from an Excel file you choose manually.
You select the blocks to update in Model Space, point to the Excel, the tool compares Excel ↔ DWG values, applies the differences, then saves the drawing.
Select the blocks to update
In Model Space, you select the blocks you want to update. You can therefore target only an area or a subset of the drawing without touching the rest.
You decide which blocks will receive the new values. Choose the import Excel file
A file selection window opens. You choose the Excel that contains your corrected values (often an Excel previously generated by the export, which you modified).
You explicitly point to the Excel to re-inject. Excel ↔ DWG comparison
The software analyzes the content:
• It reads the values in the Excel,
• It compares with the current DWG attributes,
• It detects the differences (modified attributes, changed layer, etc.).
This step prepares the writes to be made in the DWG.• The attributes of the selected blocks are updated with the values coming from Excel (texts, markers, layers, etc.).
You don’t need to re-enter anything manually in AutoCAD.
Differences from Excel → DWG are detected automatically.
Saving the DWG
Once the updates are complete,
the DWG is saved with your new data.
Your drawing is now synchronized with the selected Excel.
